Background
Well. I started my journey in September 2009, enrolling on a 3 year Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Completing my Diploma in Hypnotherapy in December 2010 (RGN Accredited) , followed by my Diploma in Counselling December 2011 and finally my Advanced Diploma December 2012. As part of the course I secured a placement with Cruse Bereavement and underwent there training to become a bereavement volunteer. Whilst still using my skills to help others I enrolled in an Access to Higher Education at Totton College 2011 before heading off to university. I have carried on throughout my studies practising both hypnotherapy and counselling in a separate capacity. I graduated The University of Southampton with a 2:1 BSc Hons in Psychology; which I undertook to further aid and consolidate my skill set in counselling and hypnotherapy. I have also worked throughout my degree in a private sector Mental Health Hospital ( in a nursing capacity), in order to gain real life experiences of everyday illness such as addiction, anxiety. depression, stress, self -harm and eating disorders to name but a few. My work there has shown how these illnesses can affect any one, regardless of status, impacting both the individual, those caring for them and how it also effects all areas of family life. Therefore I feel privileged to have assisted them in there journey to recovery. I now feel it is time to use my skills and focus on those outside of the system who may need my help. |
